U.S. Veteran Activity at the Capitol

The visualization below illustrates the numerical breakdown of the service branches. Veterans of the U.S. Army made up almost half of those who were charged for their actions at the Capitol riot. The Coast Guard and the Space Force were the only branches of the military which did not have a veteran represented in the charges.

The number of veterans charged for their actions at the U.S. Capitol Riot on January 6th will likely increase as more witnesses come forward, or as they are discovered from images or videos taken during the riot. These 61 individuals do not fully represent the thoughts, intentions, or actions of the veteran community in the United States of America. Their actions, however, do indicate why January 6th is another event in U.S. History which demonstrates how reactionary politics and U.S. veterans are interconnected.
